Presenter: Aaron Norton, LMHC, LMFT, CCMHC, MAC, DCMHS, CFMHE. Aaron Norton is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with certifications in addictions, forensic mental health evaluation, forensic behavioral analysis, rehabilitation counseling, and clinical mental health counseling. He is the Executive Director of the National Board of Forensic Evaluators, an experienced private practice clinician providing therapy and clinical and forensic substance abuse and mental health evaluations, an Adjunct Professor at the University of South Florida’s College of Behavioral & Community Sciences, a Qualified Supervisor, the Chair of Education and President-Elect of Florida Mental Health Counselors Association (FMHCA), and the Southern Regional Director of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA). He was awarded Mental Health
Counselor of the Year by AMHCA and Counselor Educator of the Year by FMHCA in 2016 and Researcher of the Year by FMHCA in 2019. He is a doctoral candidate for a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at USF, a Diplomate and Clinical Mental Health Specialist (DCMHS) in Substance Abuse and Co-Occurring Disorders as recognized by AMHCA and has been published in Addiction Professional, the Advocate Magazine, the Journal of Gay & Lesbian Social Services, the Journal of Individual Psychology, the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry, and Journal of Creativity in Mental Health.

OBJECTIVES of the Training:

  • Learn how to use Level 1 and Level 2 cross cutting symptom measures and severity specifier questionnaires posted on the APA's DSM-5 website.
  • Learn how to use the cultural formulation interview, World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS 2.0), and personality assessment measures posted on the APA's DSM-5 website, as well as how to find other free assessment tools.
  • Identify ethical considerations and limitations related to the use of the above measures.
