FREE to Members By the time trauma survivors make it to a counselor, they have been through enough. The trama treatment literature indicates that a majority of US residents have experienced at least one PTSD-level event, however many clinicians are currently practicing without the benefit of graduate-level training in the knowledge, skills and attitude inherent to trauma-competent practice leaving them at risk for practicing outside the bounds of their clinical competency. There is also an evidence-based framework for competency-based trauma mental health from which to provide trauma-competent treatment.
